Blog Response 2- 8/27

#2.  Group work can either be very helpful and productive or a huge waste of time and the assignment would have been better if it was completed individually. When it fails it is usually because there is a lot of poor communication within the members of the group and no work is accomplished and like Roskelly said, there is chaos. Roskelly also said that, "When a person doesn't know why she's doing something, doing it seems relatively useless". Also there may be one person who takes charge of the whole group and "thinks he knows it all" or there are many people in a group who all want to lead. This causes the group to fall apart and the members are not able to work well together. Trust in groups is also a huge factor, the members sometimes do not know if the other people in the group will be able to do the work and do it well.
Although, groups do not always fail. They sometimes help people a great deal. If all work was done alone, there would be a lot less learning in the world. People learn and work well by talking about their perspectives and their beliefs and listening to others, therefor people learn more and the world can grow and change. In Roskelly's story, she states that, "Talking presumes at least one listener or commenter. Group work, then, because it encourages engagement-talk and reflection and response-mirrors the way people learn things inside and outside the classroom, the ways in which they make sense out of the world".

Blog Response 1

1. There are many key components in good writing. The writing must have a clear and main point to it so the readers can understand the authors purpose for that piece of writing. It should also be well organized and structured. The transitions of the writing should have logical connections that work well, which will also make the essay or writing have great flow. Also, the writing needs to have correct grammar and punctuation to make the writing make sense to the reader. Lastly, The literature should be interesting and enjoyable so the readers can stay hooked and keep reading.

2. It takes a great amount of time, dedication and effort to be a good writer. Practice, practice and more practice would tremendously help someone who would want to become a good writer. Writing about everyday trials and tribulations would improve a persons writing quite quickly. Classes and research could also be a great way to learn how to write well. Reading books, magazines, short stories would be a great examples to help ones writing raise to a better level. Having fun with writing could also make it much more enjoyable for the audience and the author.

3. My question about writing is what are the different ways to site information that I would use in a paper? Another is what exactly are the different formats of writing (MLA)?

4. The most difficult thing for me to accomplish as a writer is being able to introduce and conclude my essays and papers well. Also using some types of punctuation are difficult. The easiest thing for me is descriptive essays.
